WordPress Plugins – Upgrade Automatically

wordpress-logoQ:  Just exactly what are you supposed to enter for the hostname, username, and password when doing a WordPress plugin using the automatic upgrade feature?  It’s not my MySQL wordpress database and it’s not my blog’s username and password. WordPress offers no hint.

A:  It’s your web hosting account information.  More exactly, the information for logging into your FTP account.

Hostname = yourdomain.com
Username = your FTP username
Password = your FTP password

  • OMG! This works! I have some blogs whose plugins automatically upgrade ok and others asking for the login information. I could never get it right and like you said, there is no hint like with other parameters in the settings. Thanks so much for sharing this tip.
