UPDATE: You’re gonna LOVE this control panel update! iPage has replaced InstallCentral with SimpleScripts which has one-click management for over 70 of the web’s top applications, including WordPress, Joomla, phpBB, Roundcube, Gallery, and more.
Click here to watch the SimpleScripts video to see how easy it is to install software on your iPage account.
A lot of you have been asking about the iPage control panel and what functions are available in it, so here it is.
I’ll be honest with you. I’m a cPanel person. I don’t like to manage the under belly of my web hosting account with some of the custom control panels used by some web hosts. iPage doesn’t use cPanel, but they do use the next popular one called vDeck. Some users like it better.
All I can say is WOW! It’s very user-friendly without being “Dick and Jane”. When I say user-friendly, it’s not just the Help information displayed in the right sidebar as you access each feature. It’s also the manner in which they make the execution of a feature fool-proof. No offense to you cave men out there, but it’s so easy…well, you know the rest.
Q: Does iPage have an easy-to-use website builder? I don’t want to spend my time learning how to use software to build a website.
A: Yes. They’ve got an easy drag and drop online website builder. Just pick the template you’d like to use as a starting point. You can easily change existing text, or drag items into a page and edit them, all without any coding at all. Here’s a short video of the drag ‘n drop web page builder.
Q: Which control panel does iPage web hosting use?
A:iPage uses the vDeck 4 Control Panel. It’s similar to the popular cPanel control panel, but there are a few differences.
Q: Can you show me what vDeck looks like?
A: Sure. The vDeck control panel contains a comprehensive set of tools for managing your hosting account. The tools are arranged in categories accessible both from the menu bar across the top of the page as shown in item #1 and also in iconic sections down the home page as shown in item #2.
Q: What items are in each category?
A: Here’s a list of each vDeck category and the functions available. Some options may vary, depending upon any upgrades you may have purchased.

@crawlcraft, here’s how you create a sub-domain on iPage.
Log into your control panel.
Click on Domain.
Click on Sub Domain Pointing Manager. You’ll get this screen.
1) Enter the new sub-domain name.
2) Select the domain you want to put it on.
3) Enter the internal directory you want to point the sub-domain to. Ok, this is where it might be confusing, but it’s actually pretty cool because you get to do it right here instead of having to create a separate re-direct after you create a sub-domain. Just enter the same name as field #1 and be done with it.
OR…
Sub-domains are nothing more than pointers to an internal folder and those pointers are re-directs. If you type in blog.yourdomain.com, it redirects you to a folder called. yourdomain.com/blog. So if they are the same name, then why make you enter field #3 at all? Because it could be someone to hard to remember or type. Say you have a folder called marys-blog-about-surfing.
So instead of going:
marys-blog-about-surfing.yourdomain.com which would point to yourdomain.com/marys-blog-about-surfing
You’d want to do this:
surfingblog.yourdomain.com and that points to yourdomain.com/marys-blog-about-surfing
my domain is also hosted by ipage but sometimes i do not like the upgrades. e.g. now I do not know how to created a subdomain for my blog. previously it was very simple!!!
This is good to read and I appreciate it that you shared so useful and helpful post with the readers of this blog.
I think the information provided by you is very interesting.I`m also blogging about CRM.
