iPage Add Domain – Adding Another Domain Name to Your Hosting Account
If you haven’t already signed up, click here to learn how to sign up for an iPage account.
Adding A Primary Domain
In your hosting control panel, click on DomainCentral. If there is nothing in the Domains list as shown below, that means you have NO primary domain and one has to be added before you can start using your account.
Add A Domain Name
It doesn’t matter if you need to set up a primary domain name for the 1st time or you want to host additional domain names on your account, you still add them the same way.
- Login to your control panel.
- Click on DomainCentral.

- Type in the new domain name.
- Make sure to select “Add Existing Domain”, then click the Add button as shown in #1 below.
- After you add it, refresh the page and you should see it in the list as shown in #2 below. Once you have a primary domain set up, it will have a little world globe next to it.

When you publish a website to that domain, all the files will go into the root of the account. I FTP’d to my account and here is what it looks like.
See that Home.html file? That’s the default under construction page on your account. That needs to be deleted. You can either FTP to your website and delete it, or you can do it through the control panel like this.
- In the control panel in the Website section, click on FileManager.

- Then tic the check box as shown in #1, then click the red X button to delete it as shown in #2.

Creating A Home Directory
This is the last step we need to do. You’ll need to create a folder for all the additional domain names you add to your account. IF YOU DON’T, anything you publish will go into the root of your account. What a mess you’ll have. You won’t know which files go to which site. If you will be publishing only to your primary domain name, then you can skip this part and put your website’s files right in the root of your account.
So after you follow the instructions above to Add A Domain Name
- In DomainCentral, click on the Transfer link to the right of your newly added domain name.
- A row of tabs will appear under the name.
- Click on the Pointers tab.
- Select Subdirectory from the list.
- Enter a name for it. It HIGHLY suggest you use the same name as your domain name.
- Now click Save.
After you Save, you can use FTP or the FileManager to see the new directory. Now you can publish your website’s files to your newly added domain. In the sample shown below, acuhosting.com is an addon domain. When I want to publish my site’s files to it, I just publish to acuhosting.com. Because we set up the subdomain in the domain pointing manager, it knows to publish files to that folder.
Buying Another Domain Name
Your hosting plan allows you to add unlimited domains to a single account without having to buy additional hosting. I highly suggest you take advantage of this NameCheap coupon code for buying your domain names. Any place else and you’ll pay too much. After you buy another domain name…
- Login to your NameCheap account
- Go to My Account: Manage Domains
- Click on your domain name
- Click on Transfer DNS to Webhost

- Select “Specify Custom DNS Servers, enter the nameservers as shown below, then Save Changes.

You can logout of your NameCheap account at this time. The nameservers take time to resolve to the new settings. This could be anywhere from 20 minutes to a couple of hours.
After that, scroll back up to the top of this page and follow the instructions for Add A Domain Name to add your new domain name to your web hosting account.
