Would you recommend bluehost for domain and hosting? Why?
BlueHost for Domain Names and Hosting
Question: I need a web hosting account. Would you use bluehost for getting a domain name and hosting? Whatever your answer is, explain why? Thanks for your time.
Answer: No for a domain name, yes on web hosting. Let me explain.
BlueHost for Domain Names
No, I wouldn’t get a domain name from BlueHost because buying a domain name from a web hosting company is more expensive than buying it on your own. After all, they need to make a profit. I don’t like to needlessly spend more money than I have to.
Accepting their free domain name offer is not a good idea because you won’t have control over the name because you won’t own it, they will. If you want to someday transfer your web hosting to another provider, you’ll have to buy the name from them.
I use NameCheap to buy all of my domains. They’re cheap and they have a monthly coupon code you can use to get them even cheaper. Just click that link to get the code. Plus, privacy protection is free for the first year and only $2.88/year after that.
BlueHost for Web Hosting
Yes, I would get hosting from BlueHost. In fact, I have a BlueHost account. There are a few reasons why I chose them.
- They use cPanel control panel. It’s easy to use and gives you tons of tools to manage your websites and email accounts. I also like the way they integrate the account management (billing side) with the cPanel website management. So much less confusion that other hosts. However, that little aspect was a surprise that I didn’t find out until after I bought a hosting plan.
- They use the SimpleScripts software installer which has more software than other cPanel installations which use Fantastico.
- They pretty much have the same unlimited hosting plans as other web hosting companies, but how many of them have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau? Not many. (I know WebHostingHub does, too.) Believe me, when people are unhappy with a web hosting company, they will complain loudly to the BBB. It took me months and months to select a new host to replace the one I had and the A+ rating was my deciding factor.
