With a godaddy account, can I host my domain somewhere else?

Question:

I have already purchased my domain name from goDaddy. Realizing that there were cheaper options out there for the actual web host, I finally settled on Hostbandit. I am having trouble linking the two together and was wondering if it was actually possible to get my domain from GoDaddy and host it somewhere else, like Hostbandit. Any help/tips/advice would be great!

Answer:

Of course, you can. In your Godaddy account, go to Domain Management, click on your domain name and then change the Nameservers to point to your hosting company nameservers. The change should take effect with 2 hours. But in the meantime, login to your web hosting control panel and create an addon domain for that domain name.  It will create a folder in the root of your account. Publish your webpage files to it, or you can also install WordPress on it.

BTW, you paid to much for your domain name. Click here to compare Godaddy to NameCheap.
