Why won’t my FTP work with iPage and Dreamweaver?

Question:

I’m trying to create a website through CS5 Dreamweaver. I’m using internet connection through my neighbor’s wireless network, which means I can’t look at any of its properties. Whenever I type in the FTP and test it says a variety of things, one of them being:

An FTP error occurred – cannot make connection to the host. Dreamweaver could not make connection because the server is down or is not accepting connection.

I don’t know if it’s referring to the internet server of my neighbor’s, or the host server, ipage, for my web page.

Answer:

Can you get on the internet with that wireless connection? If not, therein lies the problem.

iPage doesn’t know whose internet connection you’re using, only that you get the credentials correct to your website. You typing everything ok like your domain name, username and password? What about the port number? Use port 21.
