Transfer WordPress.com Account to Cheap Hosting

Question: Hello, I have several people visit my blog, and I would like to start making money. Since wordpress doesn’t allow it, I need to move it to a domain hosting. So does anyone know some good cheap places I can go to?

Answer:  Yea, it really sucks that WordPress.com doesn’t allow advertising.  In fact, if you try it, they’ll suspend your account in a heartbeat and no amount of begging will even get a response out of them so you’ll never be able to recover it.

  1. Start by doing a backup of your database and download it to your computer.  From the Dashboard, Tools, Export.
  2. Then click here to get absolutely awesome, FAST web hosting from WebHostingHub.  I transferred some of my WordPress blogs from a really slow host and they run soooo much better on my Hub account.
  3. You’ll need a cheap domain name from NameCheap or you can take advantage of the Hub’s free domain name.
  4. Once your account is set up, log into your cPanel account, go to Software, Fantastico Deluxe, then install WordPress.
  5. Log into your WordPress Dashboard and do an update, if necessary.
  6. Then go to Tools, Import to import the export file you did in step #1 above.

Happy Blogging!
