What exactly is “Linux Hosting”? Do I need it when I register my domain name?
Question:
Okay, I know this is a silly question for those of you who are tech savvy, but I am new to buying domains, etc. I am trying to purchase a domain name, and I am buying the email boxes that go along with it and am wondering if I need the hosting? Is hosting a way to make web pages or a program that turns pages into Internet pages? I am not being silly, I really don’t know. Can anyone explain to me exactly what I need to buy when I register this domain name? I want my site to be fully functional with blogs, links, forums, search boxes, etc. Thanks for your help. Also, is economy hosting for $ 93 for 2 years a good deal? Or can I go with another host for less? What is better?
Answer:
DO NOT BUY EMAIL BOXES!!!! You can get unlimited email accounts when you buy web hosting.
Get a cheap domain name at NameCheap. I’m currently transferring a godaddy domain name to NameCheap and it’s only going to cost me $8.46 after I use this NameCheap coupon code.
By itself, a domain name does nothing. You need web hosting to make a website or blog or forum. Linux is just the operating system on the web server. Another one is windows hosting, but don’t think you need windows hosting because you have a Windows computer. They are totally oblivious to each other. Just get Linux hosting.
$93 for 2 years of economy hosting is a good deal if it has unlimited hosting space, bandwidth, email accounts and more. If it’s a plan that is limiting space and bandwidth or any other sever restrictions, DO NOT GET IT because it’s probably some Joe Blow running a reseller site. That someone who rents out a tiny bit of server space, divides it up and sells hosting plans at crazy prices.
If you want unlimited economy hosting, then click here to see how to get 2 years for only $71.76 for two years. That’s only $2.99 for unlimited cPanel hosting from WebHostingPad.
WebHostingPad - Plans as low as $1.99/mo with NO price increase on renewal
