I own a website and am wanting a RELIABLE well known free host with mysql and php enabled. i have a few plugins installed already. i will need ftp access too! please list the top free hosts you can think of! please don’t advertise your own crappy hosting site. Thanks

You’re not going to find reliable free hosting. They’re dropping like flies because of abuse from spammers and lack of upgrades. Only a few short weeks ago one of the top free hosts stopped offering free web hosting. There offer was this, you’d pay for the domain name, but the hosting was free. They recently revamped their site and the free hosting plan gone.

If you do manage to find a free hosting plan for WordPress, they all run the same type of promo. It’s free for a trial period. If after that time you don’t upgrade your account to a premium paid plan, they will delete your account. It’s no different than a trial period for a software download. It’s try before you buy.

Cheap Web Hosting

You’re only other option is to get some cheap web hosting. Cheap doesn’t need to mean bad service. All of these hosts offer unlimited hosting, WordPress installations and FTP access.

There is iPage hosting. VERY popular. They’ve got a really good deal going on right now for unlimited hosting as low as $2.95/month. They use the vDeck control panel and the SimpleScripts software installer.

Another one is PowWeb. They only have 1 price. $3.88/month reguardless of the term length. They’re the only host I know that does that. Usually the shorter term plans cost more, but not at PowWeb.
