Web hosting options: Powweb VS Justhost VS FatCow VS HostMonster?

Question:

Hi, I’m considering transferring a website to a new host. Never done it before. I’ve done a little research and feel these four all seem to fit my purposes.

Anyone got input on which I should choose and why?

Btw, I like Powweb since they have a very active forum. Couldn’t find any forum in the other ones (?)

Out of PowWeb, JustHost, FatCow and HostMonster, my initial assessment is to go with HM, but PowWeb does look very good. And you’re right, they do have a good forum. They use the Ops control panel. I don’t have any personal experience with it, but judging from all the account features they have, it’s got to be real close to cPanel.

I really like PowWeb‘s pricing structure. Doesn’t matter if you select a 12 month or 24 month plan, the pricing is the same, only $3.88/month. Usually you have to buy a 3 or 4 year plan to get such low pricing, but $3.88/mo for 1 year? That’s unheard of. I see they try loading you up with some options during the checkout process, but you don’t need them, except maybe one. The only one I would suggest would be the daily backup option if you’re going to be running several domains on your account or you’re a prolific blogger and value your data. If you don’t, it’s going to be up to you to backup your sites and databases.

Another reason why PowWeb looks good is because they accept PayPal. Not everyone has a credit card so it’s really nice to see this payment option.
