Registrar for domain name + web hosting services
Question: Trying to decide between getting my domain name registered separately from my hosting site versus just doing it all at the web hosting service. It shouldn’t matter if I am sticking to the reputable big companies right?
I was going to get my domain name (the .net and .com versions) registered on namecheap, 1and1 (other suggestions welcome) separately from host (probably hostgator or justhost because I liked that they had a lot of video tutorials).
I do need several email accounts for my employees with webmail access. An easy to use site builder is also good, but I will use Joomla in the future.
Also a good price on whois privacy and renewals (registrar and hosting).
What do you recommend?
Answer: Always register your domain names apart from your hosting site. You can get them cheaper on your own. Plus, to a web hosting company, privacy is an upsell and you can expect to pay almost $10/year for it in addition to the price of the domain name.
NameCheap is the best domain registrar I’ve found. Use this NameCheap coupon code to get a discount. You’ll also get FREE privacy protection for the first year and you’ll be happy to know it only costs $2.88/year after that. No other company can touch that.
If you want excellent web hosting with lots of video tutorials, then I recommend BlueHost. I’m ditching a really, REALLY slow reseller account I have and I’ve been transferring everything over to BH. I just finished with the last WordPress blog about an hour ago.
I really like how the BlueHost control panel integrates the account manager with cPanel. You’ll find several site builders in SimpleScripts in cPanel, along with Joomla.

You might also like iPage web hosting. They use the vDeck control panel, but they also have SimpleScripts. iPage has an anytime money back guarantee and very good customer service.
HostGator is also an excellent choice. You can save 25% off your first term with the coupon code: HGFOR25LESS
JustHost, sorry, not so good. That’s the reseller account I’m ditching. Also had a friend leave them a few weeks ago because her websites were constantly down. I had a WordPress blog that continually threw Internal 500 errors on JH, but it runs great on BlueHost with the same everything, except the P.O.S. server I was on!
Get HostGator with cPanel Control Panel, unlimited web space and bandwidth. Host unlimited domains on a single account. A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. Click here to save 25% with HostGator Coupon Code: HGFOR25LESS
