On iPage, new Joomla website caused my other website to lose connection

Question:

i have this old project built in joomla 1.5 and it was working just fine.
yesterday i uploaded my new web site(also joomla 1.5) using kickstart, it created new database and everything went smooth. today i went to check out my old website but all i m getting is
Database Error: Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to MySQL
went to database manager of my host and both databases are there, in php admin i can see both with different number of files. if it means anything my hosting provider is ipage, and i m new to joomla and mysql.(new website’s db has same username and pwd as old one, but it has different name)
help please

Answer:

Check your configuration.php file to make sure it’s connecting to the right database and it’s using the correct username and password. In order to connect to the database, you have to create a user. Did you actually create that particular user for it so it can connect to that new database with that username and password?
