Question:

I use WordPress but I want to upload my own WordPress theme. I can’t find out how to do it. I own my own domain but I can not host off of their server. Is there any way to do it for free or do I have to pay to upload a theme?

Also if I buy a hosting package can I host a wordpress theme somewhere else?

the themes I got were from http://www.themes2wp.com/

thanks !

Answer:

If you can’t figure out how to upload a theme, I’m going to assume you’re blog is at WordPress.com.  Unfortunately, you can’t upload themes and plugins over there.  That’s too bad because you’re missing out on some really powerful features and beautiful themes.  And no, you can’t pay them to upload a theme.

Use Your Own WordPress Themes

If you want to upload your own WordPress themes, you have to buy web hosting.  This is referred to as a self-hosted blog.  I have personally burned through a number of web hosting companies and WordPress runs the best on my WebHostingHub account.  The Hub uses cPanel control panel with the 1-click Fantastico script installer.  The WordPress software is already in Fantastico.  Just tell it where to install your blog and off you go!  And yes, you’ll be able to use any theme you like, including ones from themes2wp.

Best WordPress Hosting

WebHostingHub has cheap prices. incredible tech support, especially for WordPress and blazing fast WordPress hosting.  With WP being such a database intensive application, performance can be really crappy sometimes on other hosts.  The Hub’s web servers are optimized to run WordPress at top speed.

I also install a plugin called Use Google Libraries.  You’ll immediately notice a boost in performance, too.

FYI:  Before installing any new theme that you upload yourself, always do a backup of your database.  I installed a malicious theme once and it wiped out all my posts.  The backup plugin I use is called WP-DBManager.
