Pointing a Domain Name to Your Wix Account

Question: I bought a domain and got unlimited webhosting from Ipage.com, but I want to use a website like wix because it has good templates and it’s easy to build my website there.. The bandwith that site comes with and disk space is 2gb, and if I point my site to it, and use wix to edit my site.. will I have the unlimited or 2gb?? Very confused.

Answer:

If you bought the domain name and didn’t use the free domain name option, you can point the DNS nameservers either to your iPage account and build a site there with whatever site builder you like, be it Dreamweaver, Expressions, or one of the iPage site builders like the Weebly Drag-n-drop website builder.  Don’t forget to log into your ipage control panel, go into Scripts and Add-on, click on SimpleScripts and look at the site builders in there, too.  When you build your site on the iPage web servers, you get the unlimited space and bandwidth.

However, if you want to use Wix to build your site, then your site is on the Wix servers and you are bound by their web space and bandwidth limit.  To use Wix with your domain name, change your nameservers to NS1.WIX.COM and NS2.WIX.COM. Follow these instructions for connecting your domain to Wix.
