Looking for a VPS…?

HostGator VPS Hosting

Question:  I’ve been using goDaddy‘s shared hosting for a while, but as I’ve developed more sites that require more CPU usage, I’m thinking of getting a VPS to host my sites on, as shared hosting can’t handle my CPU intensive programs.

So, I’ve been looking around for a good VPS provider. Because I’ve been working with GoDaddy, and there hasn’t been any problems with it (except some annoying customer support issues), it’s definitely on my list.

Another provider I’ve heard about is HostGator. One of my friends is using their shared hosting plan, and they have generally good reviews.

I’m asking here and not looking online, as it’s quite hard to get what seems like an unbiased opinion on hosting.

So, what’s your opinion on VPS providers? Thanks!

Answer:  A friend of mine got a shared hosting account from HostGator a couple of months ago, but she’s got some WordPress sites with some plugins that are CPU intensive.  She upgraded to one of their VPS plans.  She said what she really liked about it is that she can adjust her plan up or down, depending on her needs.  Since initially getting her account, she’s elected to go one notch lower.  No hassles and great support.
