Is there a way to make my WordPress-hosted site more searchable?

I just bought a WordPress domain and some people are unable to reach my site from their work accounts because of server/security settings. What can I do before I resort to buying a new domain elsewhere? Does anyone have suggestions or similar experience? Thanks!

Answer:

Save your money.  Your blog isn’t the problem.  Like you said, because of server security settings, the place where they work is blocking it and there is nothing you or your friends can do about it.
