Is HostMonster the right host for our Boy Scout website?
Question:
I need to create a website for my Boy Scout troop. The site will most likely include pictures, upcoming events, and other information for our troop. There are only about 20 kids in my troop, and maybe 10 adults. So we won’t be needing much site space or bandwith. HostMonster seems to be what we’re looking for, and the price seems decent. Are there any problems with this host that would affect such a small, non-business site?
Answer:
Pretty much all web hosting plans come with unlimited space and bandwidth. If you find one with restrictions, don’t buy it because it’s from a reseller. They rent a small amount of space from real web hosting companies, then portion up that small into over-priced plans. And what happens to the customers that bought from them when they don’t renew their contract?
Hostmonster is a very good host and you can most definitely use them for your troop. If money is an issue, I would suggest going with iPage, instead. They have cheaper rates with basically the same set of features. Nice control panel, too.
Both companies have software installers in the control panel. I would suggest installing a WordPress blog. You can create Categories for Events, Photos, etc. You’ll also find image gallery software that you can install on your site.
