Is GoDaddy a good domain registrar?
Question: I’ve heard it’s good, but has terrible Customer Service. If my domain is about to expire, will it handle this for me? Would you recommend goDaddy? I’m thinking that maybe I should register with HostGator. Is GoDaddy only good for its speed? When the nameservers are transferred to HostGator, will HostGator handle the payments? Sorry, I’m new to this.
Answer:
Are you getting web hosting and domain registration mixed up? What is about to expire, your domain name or your web hosting?
If you have a domain name at godaddy and you change the nameservers to a HostGator web hosting account, HG will only handle your hosting payments and renewals. Your domain name renewals are still handled by GD.
godaddy doesn’t have “speed”. It’s a domain name registrar. Yea, they sell web hosting, but you don’t want to go there. They’re too expensive, the control panel interface is horrible and they try to load you up on up-sells that you don’t need. Click here to check out some better web hosting options.
