iPage: Web Page Development Software

Question:

I am using Ipage to host my website. It says you can use PHP to build the site. I was wondering what is PHP and is there free webpage software available? Ipage has software that will build the first 6 pages free, but after that I have to buy the premium version. I am looking for free software to build a blog, post some charts, and general information on finance topics.

Those page builders that hosts offer, quit frankly they all suck.  It’s not just an iPage thing.

PHP is actually a programming language, not a web page builder.

iPage already has blogging software on your account.  Log into your vDeck control panel, scroll to the Scripts and Addons section and open up SimpleScripts.  The WordPress software is in there.  All you have to do is tell it where to install it.  WordPress is the easiest and fastest way to build a website.  Once its installed you can login to Dashboard like this:  http://yoursite.com/wp-admin.  Once in the Dashboard, go to Appearance: Themes and select a theme appropriate for your blog.  However, the default theme pretty decent.  Much better than that old blue one they used to use.  You can also search the web and find free or paid themes to install.  But be careful of the free ones.  I had a very bad one once that completely wiped out my blog.  People suck!
