I want to host a WordPress blog but I am sure what hosting site to use?
Question:
I currently write a blog using the free services of blogger. I like blogger, but I am interested in taking blogging to the next level. I would like to know which hosting service to use for this. I am debating against BlueHost, HostGator, and goDaddy. I have heard good things about all these companies, but what I am looking for in a hosting company is a company that can host, works well with WordPress, ease of use (not a computer guru here), secure (I would like to keep my personal info off who.is), and inexpensive (but does not have to be the cheapest as I do believe you get what you pay for.)
Thanks!

Answer:
Out of those 3 hosts, I would pick BlueHost. HostGator is good, but needlessly more expensive. GoDaddy is over the top expensive and I’ve seen many complaints about their interface being too confusing, especially for non-gurus.
Your personal information has nothing to do with web hosting. It can be protected with a privacy manager at the domain name registrar. I use NameCheap to register all my domain names and it comes with free privacy protection called WhoIsGuard for the first year. Just enable it on the domain name. After a year it’s only $2.88/yr. You’re not going to find protection cheaper any where else. Click here for a NameCheap coupon code.
I have a BlueHost account and like it. They’re really tight about security when it comes to linking your domain name to your hosting account (to make sure no one is hi-jacking someone else’s name) so here’s what you’ll need to do.
- Buy your domain name and do not turn on privacy protection just yet.
- Change the nameservers to ns1.bluehost.com and ns2.bluehost.com to point to BlueHost.
- Get your BlueHost account.
- Log into the cPanel control panel. In Domains, create an add-on domain with your new domain name and follow the verification steps.
- Once it’s verified then you can turn on the WhoIsGuard to protect your privacy.
BlueHost uses cPanel control panel with the SimpleScripts software installer. WordPress is in SimpleScripts.
