Point Your 1 & 1 Domain Name to Your Web Hosting Account

Question: I recently purchased a hostgator hosting and I want to use it with my 1&1 domain name, How can I “merge” them?

Answer:

1. Log into your 1&1 control panel and change the DNS nameservers to ns1.hostgator.com and ns2.hostgator.com.
2. Then log into your HostGator control panel.  In the Domains section, create an add-on domain using the domain name from 1 & 1.
3. Then build a website by using something like Dreamweaver and publishing it to your account, or using one of the HG online site builders, or install WordPress.  The WordPress installation will be the easiest of the 3.  You’ll find WordPress in cPanel, in Software, in Fantastico Deluxe.
