How to structure my web hosting account for Multiple sites?

I’m just wondering what’s the most cost effective way in organizing the hosting of websites if you are looking at building up a few.

- At the moment, I have an hosting account with siteground and a couple of registered domains with them, one of which is the primary domain for my hosting account.

- I also have some domains registered at goDaddy.

- If I wanted to build a site for my GoDaddy domains, I can’t because it’s not linked with my current hosting provider.

- If at this stage I get a reseller hosting account to another hosting provider, can I then build seperate sites for each of my domain through other registrars without transferring each domain to my new reseller account to minimize transfer fees.

- I’m new at this so your expert opinion will be valuable.

Answer:  You do NOT need to get a reseller account.  Believe me, I have one and it was a mistake to get one.  Yes, you can create separate cPanel accounts for each domain, but why?  All you need is a shared hosting account with unlimited addon domains.  Then all your domains will be under 1 cPanel account.  A reseller account has severe restrictions on space and bandwidth and that’s one of the reasons why I don’t like it.  Plus the fact that my JustHost reseller account is sloooooooow.

You do NOT need to transfer your domain names to any web hosting company.  In reality, you don’t transfer it to a web hosting company, you’d be transferring the name to the registrar that the hosting company uses.  Keep your names in one cheap place.  I use NameCheap for my domain name registrar.  To host those names on a web hosting account, all you do is change the DNS nameservers at the registrar, you do not transfer anything.  When web hosting companies speak of “transferring your domain”, they are talking about your hosting, not your domain name.  They are 2 different things.

And don’t do ANY hosting at goDaddy.  You will seriously pay way too much for loser features.  It’s web hosting for victims who don’t know they are being over-charged.  Just because you see it on TV, does not make it a good deal.

Get either an iPage or WebHostingHub hosting account.  Both have easy to use control panels.  I personally prefer the cPanel control panel from the Hum.  Both allow unlimited domain names without the reseller restrictions.
