How to install & setup WordPress on host with cPanel?

Share

Question:

Can someone explain in clear language how to install and setup WordPress on host with cPanel? I’m trying to create a one page document for our business on how to install and set up the newest version of WordPress with your own domain where your host uses cPanel and Fantastico. WordPress’s own documentation is too complex, so please don’t just copy and paste that.

Answer:

WebHostingHub uses cPanel and Fantastico, so I’ll use them as an example. BTW, I have a Hub account and out of all the hosts I’ve used over the years,WordPress runs the best because their web servers are optimized for WordPress.

You need 2 things:  a domain name and a hosting account. But cheap domain names at NameCheap.

  1. Login to the web hosting cPanel control panel.
  2. Scroll down to the Software / Services section and click on the Fantastico De Luxe script installer.
Install WordPress on WebHostingHub in cPanel with the Fantastico script installer
  3.  Locate and click on WordPress in the left menu.
  4. Click on New Installation.
  5. Fill in the fields on the screen… select which domain to install WordPress on, supply a username/password, email address, site title and description.

That’s pretty much the gist of it.

Adding More Domains to Your Hosting Account

WebHostingPad lets you host multiple domains on a single hosting account so if you want to add more domain names, login to your NameCheap control panel (or any other domain name registrar you may be using) and change the domain name’s DNS nameservers to point to the Hub’s web servers.  They are ns1.webhostinghub.com and ns2.webhostinghub.com.

Then login to your cPanel control panel, go to Domains and create an addon domain using the new domain name. Then when you install WordPress, the new domain name will appear in the drop-down list.
