How to download ftp files from godaddy server?

Share

Question:

I have a website that was built off a script and edited by a designer/programmer. I would like to view files and learn how fix anything if I ever need to. I want to know how to download my site files as a whole from my goDaddy server so I can view it with some software I downloaded. If you can recommend software, that would be awesome as well. Thanks!

Answer:

What do you mean by “built off a script”? You mean a template? You can get access to your GoDaddy files with the File Manager in your web hosting control panel, or whatever they call it over there. If you want to FTP them, then get a free FTP program like FileZilla and connect to your hosting account and just drag the files onto your computer. GoDaddy must have FTP instructions someplace on their site, providing you can find them.

As far as software goes, web page files are just text files. You don’t need a program to view the code, just a text editor. If you want to view a WYSIWYG-type of image of the page. Just search for “open source website design software”. Kompozer is one.
