How long does it take for a GoDaddy parking page to return to the site I built after domain renewal?

Share

Question:

I am a very amateur site builder and I have a personal site that I registered the domain for through goDaddy. I renewed the domain today after it expired (tho I was still within the grace period) and the GoDaddy parking page is still what my domain directs to.

How do I get my website address to redirect to the website I actually built?

Answer:

It shouldn’t take more than a couple of hours.  Just to be safe, check your DNS nameserver settings to make sure they didn’t point them back to their servers.  Make sure they are pointing to your web host.  Also, rename that parking page.  Look for something like default.html.  As long as that parking page is there, it’s going to interfere with your real home page.

FYI:  For future reference, you can buy cheaper domain names at NameCheap.
