How do I remove a Wix connected site from my Godaddy domain name?

Share

Question:

Please help! I am not very technologically savvy. I followed the directions of uploading a Wix-built website on my goDaddy account (altering things in the Total DNS) and now I can’t seem to revert to my original GoDaddy settings: that is, I can’t seem to unlink my Wix page. Does anyone know how I’d go about doing this?

Answer:

Go to your GoDaddy account, click on Domain Management and change the Nameservers back to the GoDaddy servers to park it. It will take a few minutes for the change to take effect, but when it does, you’re domain name won’t resolve to a website. A domain name by itself does nothing. You need web hosting and then you have to link the name to the host just like you have it linked to Wix at the moment.

If you need some really good web hosting, then I suggest getting an iPage hosting account. (big winter sale going on right now for hosting as low as $2.95/month) Change your nameservers to ns1.ipage.com and ns2.ipage.com. Sign up for the hosting account. On the order form, select Transfer an existing domain. That means you want to transfer hosting to them, not the actual domain name itself. Your registrar will still be godaddy.

After you get your account, then login and check out the control panel. Click here to see an iPage control panel review to see if it has what you want.
