How do I make my website a membership site?

Question: I started a website through ipage a few months back. I want to set that page up to be a member paysite. I’m not sure how to do this. If ipage doesn’t have the software for this available do I have to build a whole new website?

Answer: What did you use to build your site? Building a site from scratch and then strapping on membership protection after the fact could create security holes. You also need to keeping stuff from getting indexed in the search engines.

WordPress is great for building membership sites. Pages and Posts can be set to public, password protected, or private. There are some cool plugins available that can control membership, too.

WordPress is available for install on your iPage web hosting account in the control panel under Software in the SimpleScripts software installer.
