Adding More Domains to a HostGator Account

Question: I have hostgator as my host and my package is baby. How do I add more domains on this existing account? I am able to add more domains with this package. Please help!

Answer:  Your HostGator Baby account allows you to add multiple domain names.  Here’s how to do it.

1. Purchase a new domain name.  Use this NameCheap coupon code.  (comes with free privacy protection)
2. Then change the DNS nameservers on the new domain name to ns1.hostgator.com and ns2.hostgator.com
3. Login to your HG cPanel account.
4. In the Domains section, click on Addon Domains.
5. Enter the new domain name without the http://www and TAB to the next field so it auto-fills.
6. Click the button to save.

Once the nameservers resolve to HostGator, you’ll be able to type your domain name into a browser and it will now point to your HG account.  Then just build your website and publish it to the domain name like you would any other website. 

Or, you can do it the super easy way and just install WordPress.  That way you don’t have to jack around with uploading files.  WordPress is available in your cPanel control panel in Software in Fantastico.  Just pick the domain you want to install it on from the drop-down list.  Your new addon domain will also show in the list.
