Question:

My blog used to be hosted with WordPress.com using my own custom domain name without the .wordpress.com afterward. So, In order to post ads, I bought goDaddy‘s economy hosting package. I then attached my own domain (The one that was on my WordPress.com one). After installing WordPress.org, I went to my domain and it continues to redirect me to the .wordpress.com url. How can I fix this?

Answer:

Move your WordPress.com blog to GoDaddy web hostingThe “WordPress.org blog”, as you refer to it is called a self-hosted WordPress blog.  When it’s erroneously called a WordPress.org blog, some people thing they will actually have the blog on the WordPres.org domain and that’s not the case.

FYI:  The WordPress software is available for download from WordPress.org, BUT if you bought web hosting from a decent provider, the WordPress software will already be available in your web hosting control panel.  You won’t have to upload or configure anything.  Just look for the script installer in your control panel.

Question, do you want the contents of your old WordPress.com blog on your GoDaddy blog?  If so, here’s how to transfer your WordPress.com blog to your own web hosting account.  It will also explain how to install the WordPress software on your new hosting account.
