Is godaddy the best place for domain names?

Share

Question:

I need to get a domain name. Is goDaddy the best place or can I find one cheaper?

Answer:

GoDaddy is not the best place for domain names. It may be popular because of their commercial advertising, but it’s definitely not the cheapest and it’s not the easiest to navigate. One other thing I don’t like about them is their privacy protection. It costs $9.99/yr to protect your name, address, phone number and email address so others doing a “whois” on your domain name won’t see that stuff, harvest your information and then sell it to spammers. If you need to disable it for any reason to prove to another company that you are the owner of the domain name (BlueHost does this), once it’s disabled you actually cancel the service and if you want it back, you have to pay for it again!

Better Option For Domain Names

NameCheap is the best option for buying domain names. The control panel is drop dead simple and very easy to navigate. You get cheap domain names, FREE privacy protection that can be turned on and off WITHOUT losing it and it’s only $2.88/yr for renewals. Plus, if you have a lot of domains coming up for renewal around the same time, you can even buy privacy protection in bulk and save some cash.

You can sell your domain names and easily push them to other NameCheap members.
