Does self hosting your WordPress blog erase all of your posts?
Question:
I want to eventually self host my wordpress blog. I have been watching videos on youtube on how to do it with HostGator but there is one thing I’m unsure of. When you self host your blog, does it automatically erase all of your posts and start fresh, because from all the videos i’ve seen, the people blog’s always have no posts after they are done seting the self hosting up. So my main question is if you self host your blog does it erase all of your posts and starts you over?
i want to self host the blog that i already have, and i’m not making a new one.
Answer:
After you buy a good WordPress web hosting plan and you install a self-hosted WordPress blog, you’ll have a brand new WordPress installation and there is nothing in it except the sample post and page. It doesn’t erase anything because there was nothing there to begin with.
I’ll assume you currently have a free WordPress.com blog. You’ll have to export your current blog and then import it into the new self-hosted one. Here are instructions on how to move a WordPress.com blog to your own hosting account.
I suggest you use WebHostingHub for WordPress hosting. That’s where I have some of my blogs and I find my Hub account runs WordPress the fastest.
You can also try iPage for reliable WordPress hosting.
