BlueHost – Using Multiple Domains

Question:

I’ve got 2 domains and all the files go in the public/html folder for my primary domain/blog. So is there a way to get them both hosted and working at once?   Where should you put the files for each website to get them both up and running?

Answer:

Yes, you can host multiple domains on a single BlueHost account.  Here’s how to do it.

  • At your domain name registrar (I use NameCheap), change your DNS  nameservers to ns1.bluehost.com and ns2.bluehost.com to your domain name points to your web hosting account.
  • Log into your BlueHost cPanel: Domains: Addon Domain and create an add-on domain for your other domain name.  BlueHost has a tight level of security during that addon domain setup process and you’ll need to follow their steps for validating ownership of the domain name.
  • The addon procedure will create a new folder like this:  public_html/yournewaddondomain.com.  You just publish your files to that folder if you’re using FTP.  Or, if you’re using a site builder on your computer, wait for the DNS settings to resolve then just publish to yournewaddondomain.com just like you would any other domain.
  • If you have problems, contact BlueHost tech support.
