Can I transfer my domain name to another company and keep same name?

Question:

I want to recreate my entire website but want to do it on another host. If I sign with the new host, can I transfer my domain name? I don’t really need the webpages, as I will be making new ones. I also have a company email with the original host and want to keep it.

I am currently on Yahoo SiteBuilder but want to make a new website on Intuit with the same domain.

Answer:

What you want to do is transfer your web hosting, not your domain name. If you own the domain name and have access to it so you can change the settings, all you have to do is change the nameservers to use the Intuit nameservers, provided they allow that. You need to find out before you sign up for a hosting account. Just contact their support and ask them this question: “If I signup for Intuit web hosting, can I use a domain name I already own, use your nameservers and point it to my Intuit website?” Then ask them for the nameservers while you have them on the phone.

You do know that their web hosting is $7.99/month, right? You might want to take a look at these cheap web hosting companies, first.
