BlueHost Web Hosting – Do I Need To Have Linux On My Computer?

Question: I’m looking for a good host to start a website and I’m liking the features bluehost has. However, it’s a linux server and I’m wondering if this will affect my computer (i.e. not being able to use it, etc.) in any way.

Will this be a problem, or can I still use it? I have Windows XP.

Answer:  No, you do not need to have Linux on you personal computer to use BlueHost web hosting.  They are entirely different thing and are totally independent of each other.  All you’re doing is uploading your website files to the server and the server, well, serves them up to the browser when your pages are accessed.  If you use WordPress or one of the many hella cool online site builders that BlueHost has in SimplesScripts in the cPanel control panel, those programs reside on the server.  Again, no issues.  BlueHost is a great web hosting company.  I have an account with them.
