Can I keep my domain registrar but using a third party like Yola, Webs

Share

Question:

I keep coming across this in websites such as Yola, Webs etc. Does this mean I can continue my hosting at ipage but use Yola/Webs’ services? Please help me understand what this means, I don’t want to get caught in tiny print. I especially love Yola‘s widget and site building options. The Weebly site editor isn’t even updated on ipage. I’m not a programmer/designer, so guys please answer me accordingly. Please please. 10 points for best answer.

Answer:

You can keep the same registrar, but you cannot host the same domain name in more than one place.  You need to pick a host then change the DNS nameservers at your registrar to point to whichever host you’re going to use.

What do you mean the Weebly editor isn’t updated on iPage? Do  you have an an IPage account? I do, and the Weebly works just fine. Click here to see a Weebly sample.

Optionally, you can host directly with Weebly, if you like.

If you want to use Yola with your domain name and Yola allows you to use your own domain name, then you’ll have to change the nameservers on your name.  At that point it will no longer point to iPage.  However, you can still use your iPage account for other domain names because you can host unlimited domains on a single account.

BTW, next time you’re in the mood to buy another domain name, check out NameCheap.  Hella cheap domain names with free privacy protection with the coupon code on that page.
