Can I have 3 different domain names on BlueHost?
Question: For example lets say I wanna have golf.com, hair.com, and fishing.com. Then under each one I wanna them link out to sub pages. Are those called subdomains? Like fishing pole.com and fishing bait.com. Can I just pay to have all 3 names registered and host them under one account as 3 different .index pages?
Answer: Yes, you can host unlimited domains on BlueHost. There will always be the primary domain, the one you used when you signed up for your account. To add additional domain names to your account, go into cPanel and create an Addon Domain. It will create a folder in the public_html root of your account and your index pages go in there. And yes, you will have 3 different index pages, but like I said, each will be in their own folder.
Your subdomain structure is incorrect. Here’s how you’d do in the cPanel control panel in the Domain Manager.
The main domain is fishing.com.
If you add subdomains, they’d look like this:
- fishingpole.fishing.com
- fishingbait.fishing.com
Subdomains cannot have spaces. However, the unique feature of subdomains is that each one is actually treated as a separate entity. It’s pretty much like another a new domain. You FTP to it and publish to it just as if it were any other domain.
If you just create new folders, then they would look like fishing.com/fishingpole and fishing.com/fishingbait.
However, when you create multi-word subdomains, folders and even web pages, it’s good SEO practice to use hyphens to separate the words like fishing.com/fishing-bait or fishing-pole.fishing.com
