BlueHost, GoDaddy, or JustHost, which is better?

Question:  I want to get some web hosting.  Out of BlueHost, goDaddy, or JustHost, which is better?

Answer:

Below are my ratings and reasons, but before we start, I highly urge you to BUY your own domain name and do NOT accept the free domain name offer from any web hosting company.  That way, if you don’t like their service, you can take the name and keeping shopping for better hosting.  You can’t do that with a free name because the hosting company owns it, not you.  Plus, you won’t be able to transfer the name to a different host within the first 60 days and by then, their guarantee has expired.  I always use NameCheap to buy my domains.  Click that link for a coupon code that you can use all month long on new names and domain name transfers.  You’ll get free privacy security, too.

BlueHost

#1 is BlueHost with an A+ rating with the BBB.   That makes it the peoples’ choice, not just mine.  However, I do have an account so I can tell you this.  BH uses cPanel control panel, the best.  You don’t say what kind of website or sites you’ll be running so I don’t know how much of a techie you are, but the BH cPanel version contains some tools that other cPanel hosts don’t have.  Here’s my BlueHost cPanel Review with screen prints to show you what’s under the hood.  They also use a software installer called SimpleScripts.  I like it better than the usual Fantastico.  It has more stuff.  BH has a 90 day money back guarantee.  Three months is a good long time to figure out if you like them or not.  It’s significantly better than the standard 30 days.

JustHost

#2 would be JustHost.  They’re also use cPanel, but don’t have PostgreSQL.  That’s not an issue if you don’t need it, but they do have the standard MySQL and the famous 1-click Fantastico software installer.  JH is the cheapest of the three that you mentioned.  Right now they are having a MASSIVE sale.  All 1, 2, 3, and 4 year terms are only $4.95/month.  That’s unheard of.  In fact, that’s the first time I’ve ever witnessed that.  Must be a pre-Thanksgiving Day sale.  They have an anytime money back guarantee which means that if you’re not happy with the service you can get a refund on the unused hosting fees.  Tech support speaks English, even though at some times it might be the Queen’s English.

GoDaddy

#3, a very, VERY LOW 3 is goDaddy.  The homemade control panel they use is horrible.  Nothing is easy about them.  I canceled an account with them after about 1/2 hr.  Make no mistake, just because they’re famous and have Super Bowl ads, doesn’t mean you can’t do better elsewhere.  While everyone else is offering unlimited web hosting plans for around $6.95/month for a yearly plan, GH wants $14.95.  Only newbies who don’t know how to use a search engine to find the best deals use GH.
