iPage: Trouble Setting Up DNS and WordPress? Try this…

Question:

My host is ipage, and I’m trying to make it so that it loads my installed wordpress when you got to my domain name. The domain is registered through Monicker. No matter what name server I seem to set it as, none of them will make my website load, and they all give a DNS error message. Where exactly should my DNS be pointing?

I’m obviously not the best at this. I can supply more information if needed, too. Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Answer:

Login to your iPage  control  panel and look at the right side of the page. You’ll see something called System Settings with Your Nameservers. Use those.

Since you bought your domain name at a registrar, you also have to create an addon domain on your iPage account. Click here to see how to do that. If your domain name is your primary domain on the account, instructions for that are also included.

You also need to delete the default Home.html file that was created when your account was set up. You can do that via FTP or use the FileManager in the control panel. As long as that file is there, it’s going to be the one to load, not your blog.

If that still doesn’t work, I suggest going into SimpleScripts, clicking on WordPress and uninstall the blog you installed. Then reinstall it again. This time your domain should appear in the drop-down list. There are two ways to install it, with www and without www. I always install mine without www. Using www is so 90′s.
