5 Easy SEO Quick Tips
by AJ Farro
Search engine optimization is all about making the search engines happy. Don’t make your site difficult for the engines to understand. Help them out as much as you can by making it clear what your site is about. Here are some helpful SEO tips that are within your control to implement rather quickly.
1) Title tags
You’ve got about 60 characters to work with so make the search engines happy, yet give the visitor what they are looking for. Each page title should have a unique title. Don’t duplicate page titles across your site. Place your main keyword at the front of the title followed by a brand name or other keywords related to the main keyword. Do not keyword stuff.
2) Keyword research
Use keyword tools like Keyword Elite 2.0 to identify verb, plural and singular variations of your main keyword and to find related secondary keywords. Use those keywords interspersed within your content. It will reinforce to Google that your page is indeed about “your main keyword”. Additionally, it will help your readers find what they’re looking for because the related keywords will also get indexed and that increases the chance of your content getting found.
3) Anchor text
Anchor text is the underlined blue text in a hyperlink. Don’t link words like “click here” because Google will interpret the target destination as having to do something with ”click here”. Instead, link the keyword(s) you want to target.
Example: If you want to link to an another page about green web hosting, then do this…
DON’T DO THIS: To get cheap green web hosting, click here.
DO THIS: Click here to get cheap green web hosting.
Your reader will see the “click here” call to action instruction and will understand what you want them to do and both your reader and Google will know that the target destination is going to be about green web hosting.
4) Get external links
- Original content can’t be beat. Write articles of interest on your site. If you’re trying to build a mailing list, put together a free report in .pdf format and create an opt-in page offering the free report. (If you don’t have a .pdf converter, get OpenOffice for free. Their Word-like document writer, called “Text Document”, creates .pdf files.)
- Then approach sites who may already be linking to you. Tell them who you are and point out the link they are giving you so they know what you’re referring to. Then say you have a new article (or report) on your site that their readers might find helpful. Give them some ad copy so they don’t have to write it themselves and include the link to your stuff. On the other hand, if the site is not linking to you, ask the site owner if they would consider using your material on their site. Webmasters and bloggers are always in need of good content so make sure you’re offering quality writing. They get good content and you get a link.
- Look for sites that take donations and asked to be published on a sponsorship or patron page in exchange for a donation. Again, write some useful content and include a link to your stuff.
5) Internal links
Google carefully considers internal links (links to other pages on your site) to help figure out what your content is about. If you have products on your internal pages, it’s up to you to leak some link juice to them by hyperlinking keywords from your home page to those internal pages. Those internal pages will be pages you created using the secondary keywords found during your keyword research in step #2 above. Think hierarchy. Or like a breadcrumb trail that leads them to the internal pages.
If your main page is about growing your own flowers, secondary, even tertiary pages would be…
Growing Your Own Flowers
- Annuals - discusses what annuals are with links to the individual flowers…
- Petunias
- Marigolds
- Vinca
- Perennial – discusses what perennials are with links to the individual flowers…
- Poppies
- Echinacea
- Foxglove

If you want to pay sky high prices I would without a doubt recommend goDaddy. If you want 3 years of hosting for less than the price of 1, I recommend WebHostingPad.
Thanks for these tips, I am thinking to buy a good web hosting plan so I can work without any stress, I need to setup a wordpress blog and I am not sure whether should I go with BlueHost, goDaddy or the in-expensive WebHostingPad? Certainly Webhosting pad looks exciting but not sure about it’s quality. I will try it out.
