Best Linkbaiting Techniques

Linkbaiting is something most, if not all, webmasters do-whether they realize it or not! Who doesn’t want their content linked to? Backlinks are a good thing, and getting them without any extra effort on your part should always brings a smile to your fac

Creating content that prompts one-way in-coming links from other webmasters is not only complimentary but also a “vote” of confidence that Google cannot ignore.

The methods you use to try and get people to link to your content is only limited by your imagination, and some will stop at nothing in order to succeed, hence the bad rap linkbaiting has gotten in some circles.

The “ethics” of linkbaiting aside, I would like to offer what I feel are the five best techniques for getting other webmasters to link to your content.

So without further adu, here are my five favorite linkbaiting techniques:

Write content that is the best “out there” on your chosen topic. Make your content compelling, unique, attention grabbing, provocative, and make sure it provides real, useful, value for your visitors.

Be the first-Break the “big” story in your niche. This can be very effective in getting some of those back links. Always stay up-to-date on the happenings in your niche, be on the “cutting edge” of anything that’s new or ground breaking in your niche.

Offer a free tool or piece of software-Give them a good reason to come back to your site, bookmark it, and share your link with others. even if you are unable to produce this tool or software yourself, you can always find someone to do it for you.

Give a list of needed links-Tell your visitors where they can find more quality information on the subject of your post. Save them from having to Google it and search through the results. Make your list (the best it can be!)

Everyone likes free stuff-Give it away-and they will come. Not only that they will tell their friends about it!

Put these techniques to work for you in most every thing you write, posts, articles, etc. and you will begin to find back links showing up with regularity. Remember these kind of unsolicited, natural back links are some of the most valuable links there are!

  • Another good way to write link bait is to be brave when you blog, and say things that are quite provocative and controversial. (I don’t mean being clearly defamatory. That’s foolish!)

If you say something controversial, then you might have some people linking to you to show they agree with your opinion. And if people vehemently disagree, they may well link to you too. So SEO-wise you win on both counts!

But if you have a thin skin forget about using this technique. Bloggers can be really nasty in their criticisms.

I’m looking for good ideas for link building. Hopefully it can be useful and I’m looking for something more than just the ordinary information you find in the other blogs. Thanks!
