Let me start off by painting a picture for you. Ever call your phone or cable company and got “Robert” from the Bangalore customer service center (over 8,000 miles away) on the line? Old Web Host Got Hacked

Just this past weekend I moved a blog with nearly 1,400 posts from my old host to BlueHost. Last year my old host was hacked with some Osama Bin Laden graffiti. It wasn’t just me. All the servers were affected because the little terrorists found a vulnerability in server security. I never really trusted that old host afterwards.

A few weeks ago I uploaded a WordPress theme to one of my domains on my BlueHost account. Two days later I got an email from BlueHost support saying they had detected and repaired the TimThumb exploit in that theme. Talk about proactive. I felt well taken care of.  Lesson learned: I had purchased the theme from some 3rd party, not the developer. Be very careful where you get your themes from.

A+ Better Business Bureau Rating

Last year I was getting too many blogs on one of my hosting account and decided it was ready to spread them out a little more. But with all the “top” web hosts pretty much offering the same thing, who do you go with? Price will always play a factor, but what if the cheap web hosts have lousy reviews? So I decided to head over to the BBB to see what kind of rating BlueHost had. Turns out they had an A+ rating. That was the pivitol moment for me. I immediately signed up for a BlueHost account.
