How To Design Your Web Page For Top Search Engine Rankings

When you begin and SEO campaign, start by focusing on your on-page optimization. The practice of on-page optimization is all about what you do on your web page to help search engines understand your content and what your site is focused on. Even though off-page optimization is an important factor in the rankings equation, on page optimization builds a strong foundation for all SEO efforts.

Here are a few SEO tips you can use starting immediately to make your site more search engine friendly and begin enhancing overall rankings on all types of search engines.

Optimize Your Website URL. If you have not yet picked a domain name for your website, do not try to purchase yourkeyword.com. Rather, pick a name that will be memorable and is something you want to build your company or brand around. You do not want to limit your options too severely. That said do try to include your main broad keyword into your URL.

Optimize Your Page Title and Header Tags Including H1 and H2. Develop a title that is relevant to your website content and which has no more that sixty characters. The reason you want to keep your title to a fixed width is because longer titles wont display fully on search engine results listings. The title is important because it gives you an opportunity to display your keywords and entice browsers to click on your link.

The first headline that appears on your site should include your most important keywords. It is best to have your title display with an H1 tag. An H1 tag provides emphasis and signals each search engine that you deem the content as important. Other titles on your web page should be displayed using an H2 or H3 tag, indicated once again, the importance of the keywords being used.

Do Not Forget To Optimize Your Meta Tags. Search engine optimization professionals continue to question the true value of meta tags. I know that meta tags are based on a number of core tags but can include many more. The core tags are for a page title, description and keywords. These tags are less important than in years past but should still be included.

Meta tags are used as a starting point and reference for search engines seeking to rank your website. Your meta tags need to be aligned to web site content and include your most important keywords. I suggest limiting your keywords to twelve and limiting your description to about 150 words. By doing so you eliminate the chance that a search engine considers your content as questionable.

Optimize your keyword density for Google. Creating a keyword rich content page is essential but do not get carried away. Your keyword density should be around 3 or 4 percent, no more. Some people believe that you could go as high as six percent for Yahoo! optimization but Google seems to like pages that have a smaller keyword density. From my perspective you are better off focusing on the placement of your keywords and the type of emphasis you provide. Remember to focus on H1 and H2 tags and place keywords at the beginning, middle, and end of your web page. In addition you should have an instance of each keyword phrase in bold, italics, and underlined. This variety again reinforces the value of your links.

Varying Your Keyword Phrase. Each time you list your keyword phrase, change it up a bit. Rather than stuffing your site with the same keyword phrases again and again, use keyword variety. One way to do this is to add a word or two before your keyword phrase and after it. Creating variety is critical because it shows each search engine that your site is really about the core content you are promoting.

The most important part of any SEO effort is to make your website appear natural and have a good flow. You want to make sure that your site presents valuable content and follows on-page optimization best practices. Use these suggestions as a guide, you will be on your way to a fully optimized website.

How To Improve Your Search Engine Ranking With Article Marketing

I talk to a lot of website owners in the course of my work and there is one question I ask many of these people: I ask them what their goals are in using article submissions. Most of these site owners will mention at least one of the following:

A higher search engine rank for their most important keywords, a reputation as an authoritative source of information in their field or more traffic due to people clicking the links to their site in the articles.

In my opinion, the greatest reward of Article Marketing comes in terms of SEO-having a higher search engine ranking for your keyword terms.

SEO techniques are all designed to do the same thing: get more traffic to your site, especially from the people in your target market or audience. Article marketing is one of the more effective ways of getting your content to the people you want to reach.

Just like you, your target audience uses Google, Yahoo and other search engines when they’re looking for information online.

As a website owner, your goal is to be one of the top results when your customers type their search terms into Google. By being listed at or towards the top of the results pages, you increase your chances of the potential customer clicking through to your website. That is what called “targeted traffic”.

Targeted traffic is exactly what you want – these are the people who are the most likely to be interested in what your site has to offer. The following SEO techniques are ones which can help your site to get a higher ranking in the search results returned by Google and other engines:

1- Figure out what your keywords are. Your keywords are not only words that classify the content of your website, but they are the very words that your target market most often types into Google when they are searching for a site like yours.

When you know what those special words are, then you can work to position your website to satisfy those search terms. It isn’t hard to figure out what your keywords are, but it does require a bit of basic research. There are many great keyword suggestion tools on the web, both paid and free. To start with you can look at the Google Keywords Tool, WordTracker Keyword Suggestion Tool, Keyword Discovery, and Overture.

2- Write articles on the topic of your website. Oftentimes as you’re writing you will naturally use your keywords in your article, title and resource box, but it may be helpful to read back over your article after you’ve finished writing it, and see if there are any places where it would be appropriate to subtly use your keyword terms.

Though it is important to use your keywords in this content, you should aim at keeping your articles easy to read and natural-sounding above all. Remember that you are writing primarily for your readers, with search engines second in importance. Avoid stuffing your articles with keywords, keeping the density of keywords at 3% or less.

3- Keep submitting articles regularly. A few per month is fine, but you need to do this each and every month. This is where a lot of website owners fail; but keeping at your article marketing efforts is important if you want to see results.

Article Marketing requires steadiness of purpose, doing the same action over and over again to reap cumulative results that can be quite astounding. The hardest part about writing and submitting articles is just sticking with it-if you can develop consist article submission habits, you can see dramatic results over time.

The Right Content Can Improve Your Search Engine Ranking

It is a fact that Google and other search engines value content. This concept can be frustrating, as filling up some sites with content is not really natural, necessary, or valuable to the end user. Of course, in many cases it is very valuable, but there are only so many leather buying guides I want to see when I’m shopping for a wallet; it gets overdone really quickly. The fact is that content needs to be continually added to any site that needs to rank. So here are some basic ideas for how to incorporate continuous content into your site.

If your business is growing, and constantly adding new products or services, then you should definitely consider adding a blog to your web site. Blogs are a great way to communicate with your customers about all of the things going on in your business, what is coming up down the road, and what new products or services you have available right now.

If your business is in a popular field, and there are articles being written about your business, your industry, or the products or services you provide, then you should include these articles on your web site. When you add the articles make sure you use the proper key words to categorize them, and keep them updated so your customers have the latest and best information.

User generated content: customer reviews of products (offer a coupon if they fill one out), customer testimonials, customer suggestions, customer top 5 lists.

Include information about other business that are affiliated with your business, and encourage your affiliates to do the same. If there are products or service you do not provide yourself, but you work with another company that does provide them, you can include information about that company, and a link to their site. Your customers will appreciate the fact that you are providing this information to them, and this may lead to them coming back to you when they need the products or services you provide. If your affiliates do the same then this will mean more business for you, from the traffic that is directed to your web site from theirs.

The more content you include on your web site, the better it will be. Your customers will appreciate all of the information that you are providing them with, which should increase your customer satisfaction. In addition, search engines will increase the ranking of your business in their search results lists, since the amount of content you provide on your site has a direct correlation as to how high you rank.

The Process of Bidding on Keywords

When using Google AdWords as a part of your advertising campaign, it is essential that you know which keywords are going to make you the most profit. Choosing the right keywords for effective marketing is so important that there are marketers who have made it into an art form. These marketers research the keyword history of the search engines used most by the people most likely to use their products and come up with the keywords most likely to produce the desired result.

Keywords, unfortunately, are not the only deciding factor in the success or failure of a pay per click advertising campaign. The simple fact of the matter is that internet browsers do not have the patience that consumers who are seeing their ads on television or hearing them on the radio have (and that isn’t saying much). Each time that a search is entered into a search engine pages of results appear. Realistically speaking, which of these pages are going to be viewed before the surfer turns their attention elsewhere? The first five, maybe the first ten if they are determined.

Obviously the keywords are being chosen by several dozen, if not several hundred, advertisers. So how is the order of the display of ads decided by the search engines? Each advertiser who uses AdWords is paying a fee each time their ad pops up. While the fee is not a lot of money, the more companies who want these keywords, the more they are going to be willing to pay for them. So the company who is willing to pay the most for their keywords is the one that the search engine is going to have placed at the very top of the first page of any search that is conducted. Since the search engine is going to make their money whether the advertiser makes the sale or not, it only makes sense for them to want to place the ads they are going to make the most money from at the top of the list each time. After all, they are in the business of making money as well, and they want the ads which are going to make them the most money to be seen more.

There is a learning curve when it comes to striking the right balance of bids and keywords. While you are learning this lesson, you will have financial ups and downs. Do not expect a purchase with each click of your ad. The percentage of actual sales is, as a rule, less than ten percent of the people who choose your ad. Anticipating that that will be your sales percentage is an appropriate expectation. With this number in mind, compare that to the price of your product. When you look at this as a portion of your advertising budget, you can then decide what you are able to bid for the keyword.

Find Out How Many SEO Backlinks Are Associated With Your Website

If you have a website then you know the importance of knowing the interest you are attracting. SEO Backlinks are the incoming links that will go into a website or a web page. With search engine optimization, the number of back links that can be measured will give an indication of the popularity of your site. Another benefit of backlinks is that you can have insights into who is looking at your website and their interests.

A back link can be any link that is received by a directory, website or even a top-level domain coming from another similar area. There are many ways that back links are referred to as, such as inbound links, inward links or inlinks. Search engines determine a website’s search engine ranking by using one of the best factors, back links.

The owners of websites will often look for different techniques to get the number of back links aimed at their website to increase. Although some of these methods will be free for everyone’s use, some methods will require a great deal of marketing. An example of this is ‘link baiting. Breaking a new story would be ‘link baiting’ and some websites will link to that site to get some of the advantage of the ‘baiting’ website.

The larger search engines will utilize a mechanism that allows them to show the number of backlinks that are recorded for a website. By using ‘link.’ in front of any website name it will tell you what pages will point to that website. The same is true for Yahoo!’s Site Explorer that tends to show more of the results then Google. Also, websites can keep track with their own website software.

Some ways that people go about getting back links that are high quality to their website are submitting articles, commenting on blogs and even posting on some blogs. Some people think these ways are the best way to raise their standing on the search engines. Other people will submit their website to as many Internet directories they can find. This is a good way but one negative about it is that it can take quite a while to have a new website included.

Today the process of gaining backlinks to your website using Web 2.0 is the easier than ever. The owner will learn many things building their backlinks as well as meeting new people on the way and having fun. Try all of the strategies that you can find and your search engine ratings will soar.

Keyword Research and Your Pay Per Click Campaign

PPC advertising without proper keyword research is an absolute waste of money and resources. You can easily do this kind of research which will get you well on your way to forming an efficient method for marketing.

Why is it most important? Because you want to know what people are typing when they search. Then knowing those keywords, you can put those exact words into the Text Ad for your Pay Per Click Campaign. You want those words in the Headline, then in the body of the ad, and if you can even have them in the URL itself, all the better! Bottom line ” You want to have those keywords all over your ad, and it will increase the likelihood of someone clicking on it. But it is much more than just that.

So while the first element is to mirror what someone is typing in, the second element is to take that list and narrow it down to what keywords to bid on to effectively sell what you have. Now this list may grow, but once you start with a good core list of words, then you can do different variations of that core list. But we need a good starting point and proper keyword research and some common sense will help us build that list.

For example, say you are selling cars. You can go to Google Adwords and find out how many times cars or used cars or used cars for sale or used BMW for sale has been searched. You would truly want to start with a larger sample of words, but for this exercise we will use just these 4 keywords.

Monthly, 151 million people search for ‘cars.’ That’s a lot! It must be the perfect word choice! This is false. You’ll waste so much time and money bidding on the rights to put ‘cars’ in your PPC ad, despite its popularity. What happened? The term is way too general, and have many contexts for searching for it. It won’t help a used car business much.

Using that term will get you closer to the best keyword. Even that gets 550,000 searches a month. However it may not be exactly what you want. Again, you should be wondering why. If you only sell BMW cars, then you still need to be more specific. Do you understand what direction we are going now? You need to employ your common sense here. You need to find a list of keywords that is relevant to exactly what your are selling. In this case, ‘used bmw for sale,’ would be the best choice.

Append this keyword with any city you can sell a car to, or even model numbers for your cars, and you’ll get better keywords like ‘Used 325 BMW for Sale in Los Angeles,’ which will get a lot more customer that will be interested!

Article Marketing Still Is One Of The Best Online Marketing Strategies

Article marketing still is making money online for many businesses, why is this and what can I do to get my share of this money?

This is a powerful tool for making money and you don’t have to wait to learn about it in great depth before you can actually get started. It is a way of promoting your home internet business at low or virtually no cost and it increases your potential for success exponentially.

If you have already started a marketing campaign for your business article marketing is still able to work for you, and is one of the many tools you use in your overall strategy. Even if you don’t write these yourself, paying someone to ghost write them will be effective to get targeted traffic to your business. So how do you do this?

This form of marketing is not actually a secret, it has been used, every since newsprint became mass media. It is a form of leveraging the media’s ability to reach mass markets and it is extremely popular as a marketing tool.

Essentially the syndicated web site that your articles will be published on have mass readership. Much like a newspaper would in the old days before electronic media. You are allowed to post your article for free in most instances, as these syndications are looking for content, in return for your content, they also allow you to supply a contact details and a brief description of what you do, in a small resource box at the end of the article.

The people who read your article have entered search terms called a keywords to a search engine and have been directed to your article. This is specific information that they have requested and SEO is what has landed them here. They are your targeted traffic! They read your article and if it makes good sense they click on the link bait in your resource box. This takes them to your site, where they are a pre-qualified buyer, and there you have it, targeted traffic.

No online business can afford not to receive targeted traffic, and neither can you, article marketing is still able to make conversions to sale.

What To Do Before you Optimize Your Website

Today I am writing to warn everyone before you even start doing SEO you better know what keywords you want that are going to draw traffic. Just a short time ago I got a testimonial and a question from a client. She said my program worked great, got her to the first position in Google but she wasn’t getting the traffic she thought a number one position would bring.

There is truth in that some keywords are not searched for. I rank number one for a bunch of junk that people don’t search for and I NEVER draw traffic from those keywords. This was her scenario. She had targeted a keyword that she thought people would search for to find her site, the word actually had very little search volume. You have to spend your time upfront finding the words.

Using a tool like the Google Adwords Keyword tool can tell you words that people are searching for. Getting rankings for these words is excellent compared to purchasing them on adwords. But if you just guess at the keywords you are targeting then you are opening yourself up for wasting a lot of time to draw very little traffic. The fact is you can find words that are searched for that are pretty easy to rank for.

I always hit up the Google Adwords keyword tool and find words that are searched for between 30,000 and 100,000 a month. I like to set a goal of having 1000 visits per day. You can’t really go wrong with that number of visits per day. If you can’t convert some sales out of 1000 visits per day then there is some issue with your target audience or the website itself.

SEO is not rocket science, but before you even start you better find a keyword that you can actually rank for that will draw traffic. It really does no good to rank for a word that does not bring any traffic to your site. Ranking number one for a high traffic keyword is the ultimate, but you would rather rank for a high traffic keyword in a postion other than number one for a word that nobody searches for.

Latent Semantic Indexing – Using LSI Keywords to Generate Rich and Natural Content Flow

By Ricardo Lumbardo

Using LSI Keywords Properly

The main aim of Latent Semantic Indexing is to mingle LSI Keywords with the content. Overuse or misuse of keywords should be avoided as this will damage the reputation of the site, in eyes of the engine spider and audience. The prime objective should be use variety of related keywords that reflect properly the root keyword and in process provide a unique content, which the search engine looks forward to access, index and rank, well. A rich and natural content is liked by the audience and spider as both can gorge on some new and interesting information. Maintaining high degree of relevance between content and all keywords is important as this is necessary to generate a rich and natural content flow, which the gives the audience a good reading experience.

Distributing Related Keywords Evenly Throughout the Content

The priority is to sensibly spread the LSI keywords and their synonyms along with main keywords through out the content body. Latent Semantic Indexing helps the content to develop a broader outlook and sets it apart from other websites of same niche. This imparts a unique feature to site and helps engine to locate it easily from the millions of other websites on the net. A rich and natural content is well appreciated by audience and they stay in the website for a longer duration of time. This noted by the engine spider and awards the site higher page ranking. As the engine ranking increases the site gets more popular and starts to get more in bound links from other sites. This creates a viral like effect, spreading the popularity of the site in every nook and corner of the web world.

Using the Software

Taking help of a proper software program tool like the Google Key tool helps one to find the most probable keyword that is likely to be typed in by most of surfers, when they will hit the net in search of a particular product or information. Along with the main keyword the tool presents a list of related keywords or LSI Keywords that relate well with the root keyword.

Using Main Keyword and Related Keywords in Title and Sub headings

It is important to use the root keyword in the title and related keywords in the subheadings, because these are the places where the engine looks for clues. The placement of requisite keywords here helps the engine to scan easily what is available in the content and if it finds that this is the information that it is seeking, then it begins its’ journey into the content, using the keywords as guide. Keyword density holds no importance in Latent Semantic Indexing. It is the quality and relevance of the content that plays a crucial role in the success of the content to provide greater visibility to the website on the internet.
