Things You Must Know If You Are Going To Change Your Web Hosting Provider
If your website becomes popular and your current host does not meet your needs for more bandwidth, storage, etc., switching from one host to another may be necessary. This is especially true if your website is hosted on a free hosting company.
When you need to move your website, make sure you plan the move carefully. The first step in the process is to choose a new hosting company.
After you have found a web host that is able to meet your needs, you must move your website onto the new server. Before you move it, make sure that you back up your website from your old host.
If your website isn’t well structured and has been growing haphazardly, this is a good time to consider redesigning things. That could simply mean a new page design or it could mean redesigning your database and content storage.
You should use a redirect page on your old website for the first 48 hours after moving to a new web host. This will automatically forward your site’s visitors to the new location and ensure that people will see the new website even if its IP address has not yet propagated.
It takes about 48 hours for a new website to get listed on most domain servers across the internet, so after that you should be fine. A few more suggestions for an easy transition include:
1. Check on whether your new host runs on Windows or Unix and make sure it will be compatible with everything you will move from your old host.
2. Check to see how much storage all the files and content for your current site need. Make sure your new host gives you enough room to let your website grow.
3. Find out which services your new host offers, and make sure that all the features you have been using on your current host are available. Some examples include autoresponders and email forwarding.
4. If your current website is created using Microsoft Frontpage, make sure your new host supports Frontpage extensions.
5. Check your new web host’s policy about extra bandwidth. You may need to know this if your website continues to get busier.
6. If the new host’s server is a shared server, check to make sure there are no adult sites hosted on the same system. They can get busy and cause all the other sites on the same server to slow down.
7. Check some review sites and forums so that you can read some customer feedback about your new host before you sign up. This will give you a good indication of the type of service you can expect.
Once you have your data uploaded to your new host, test your site to make sure it’s working properly. You should be able to preview your site before you fully switch your domain name to the new address.

History Of The Web Directory
Back at the dawn of the Internet, where CRT monitors were the way of the world and the web page was a very simple thing, search engines were not the primary way of finding information. In fact, for several years after the Internet was released to the public, search engines as we know them today simply didn’t exist. To find information, people had to use a different mechanism, and that mechanism was known as the page directory.
While there were several directories back in these good old days, there were two that stood out and became the largest and most used directories of the Internet at the time: the Yahoo Directory and the Open Directory Project. Yahoo shortly afterward released a “search engine” service, but it was another face of the same service: this “search engine” (and other engines of this time) only searched through the directory for results, so any website that had not yet been manually added to the directory didn’t exist as far as the engine was concerned
For several years directories enjoyed the status of the “go to guys” of the web. This was not to last, sadly, as some forward thinkers saw the potential limits of directories and how these would become more apparent as the Internet grew exponentially over the years. These forward thinkers happened to work at a small company called Google, and they developed what would become the most widely used search engine on the planet. Other search engines appeared following Google’s lead, and it seemed that directories would soon become a thing of the past. Directories have managed to hang on, however.
The survival and usefulness of directories today is all thanks to the fundamental difference between directories and automated search engines: directories are not automated. Directory listings remain a result of human intervention and activity, and thanks to this fact that every directory entry has been created and modified by a human being directories remain a useful source of information.
It is also worth mentioning, if only for the amount of irony inherent in this set of circumstances, that directory links also raise a page’s search engine rank in most search engines. This is the primary reason why most webmasters continue to request for their websites to be listed in these directories. This practice has actually extended the life of the directory, keeping them useful for people to browse around in long after they were supplanted by the mighty G. and other search engines as the primary method of information hunting.
It is thanks to these two advantages that directories remain today, and why they are not likely to go extinct for several years to come.

How To Use Flickr As a Marketing Tool!
5,419 uploads in the last minute, 71,248 things tagged with jump, 3.0 million things geotagged this month. Do you still need a reason to get yourself a Flickr account?
Flickr is quickly becoming a popular online marketing tool for it allows creative agencies to market their products through a visually appealing medium. It can help you generate traffic to your website and ensure that your website ranks higher on the major search engines like Google, Yahoo! and Bing too. Consider this, according to Nielsen or NetRatings, Flickr is the fastest-growing photo sharing site on the web. It is the 7th most trafficked social media site overall.
Flickr is primarily a photo-sharing community, owned by Yahoo!. You can use your Yahoo! Login ID and password to log onto Flickr and use your account to tag your photographs, share them and participate in the community discussions as well. The photographs, which you post on Flickr, might leave a lasting impression in the minds of the millions of Flickr users and some of them might end up being your potential customers as well. By networking actively on the community forums, you can build your contacts and build greater awareness about your business and services as well. You could use the links from Flickr to further your link popularity too!
Video is for everyone too! As a member of Flickr, you can upload and share videos (business videos and presentations too!) just like you do with photos.
To avail the benefits of SEO through Flickr, you need inbound links, which you could obtain in the form of links from other blogs and websites. Ensure that the photo title matches the title tag or element. You are assured higher rankings for the phrase. Most importantly, you should only try to sell unique and noteworthy product or services-related photographs through Flickr.
Quick tips for marketing your business on Flickr:
* Use your business/website name as your Flickr display name.
* Use the best, relevant photographs to advertise your business.
* Actively participate in the Flickr community. Find groups relevant to your business and join them.
* Tag your photographs with terms that are relevant to your business or service. Provide a link to your Flickr account on your website.
However, don’t post advertising messages on the discussion forums or stuff keywords in your tags. You could end up turning “off” the community and users, and not being able to generate any interest in your photostream too. To top that, Flickr added “nofollow” tags to links placed within its website last year. Flickr implemented these tags for the same reason as a number of other social-media sites – to prevent misuse and spamming.

Some Extra Benefits of SEO
In business, many clients overlook the real results that they’re getting during Search Engine Marketing.
They look at they keywords, they see what they are paying for, but what they do not see are the many other factors that are affecting the outcome of their site.
As a site becomes more optimized, it is being turned into a well devised navigational pattern. This pattern is precisely what the search engine spiders look for. Keep in mind that if your site is easy to index, you’ll get a better ranking in the search engine results.
W3C validation is always going to be important, and as such any website should want to reach it. One thing that it won’t help with however, is the rankings. Yahoo does not care about the validation so long as it has good content. This is what will keep your page at the top.
Remember to give your pages their proper names. By doing this you will guarantee that the spider will actually be able to do it’s job properly. You might be thinking that meta tags are a thing of the past, and you would be right, Google does not may much mind to them. That doesn’t meant that you shouldn’t strive for perfection though!
When you’ve finished coding the site, and done it right, then Search Engine Marketing finally comes into play. By doing this you are ensuring the traffic to your site will be increased, and there are a number of different ways that you can do this. For instance you could use articles, you could use press releases, blogs, just about anything.
There are a few other benefits that you should know about, especially when it comes to Search Engine Marketing. When you create press releases regarding a widget that you sell, you create Inbound Links to that area of your site. If you listed off all of the colors, then you have something different happening. All of those colors will have IBL’s of their own, guaranteeing you even more traffic.
If you included phrases about the ways to use widgets, their colors, and other things, then you have also included keywords that you may have never though of. When you check to see what keywords are being used, you might actually be a bit surprised.
This is only a tiny sampling of the potential your site has. Remember, each page gets ranked on it’s own, so that’s why it is so important to make sure every page you have on your site is optimized.
Though it might seem rather insignificant, your contact page also needs to be well optimized. If you have a physical business, the search engines will be able to geo target your site so long as your street address is listed. This isn’t something that is being widely done as of yet, but it will be a major factor in the future.
As you are searching Google to find your page rankings, make sure you try the other keywords that you might have. It could very well surprise you to see exactly how many times your page comes up on an obscure keyword.

SuperGreen Web Hosting Enhances Guarantee
It’s standard in the web hosting industry to offer a 30-day money-back guarantee, less any setup or domain name fees, but SuperGreen web hosting has recently joined the ranks of hosts offering what’s called an “Anytime Guarantee”. Here’s how it works.
During the first 30 days, it’s a money-back guarantee on the cost of hosting. (Some restrictions apply with regard to any setup fees you might have paid on the smaller plans.) After 30-days, if at anytime you request a cancellation of your account, SuperGreen will pro-rate the unused portion.
Why that’s a good thing
Things don’t always go as planned, especially with online businesses. Perhaps you’ve started a new business and it didn’t pan out. Instead of being stuck with a web hosting plan you no longer need, you can cancel and get the unsed portion back.
But keep in mind that all SuperGreen accounts allow you to host unlimited domain names. So even if you close down operation on one domain, you can still add unlimited addon domains and try something else, or setup up blogs for each of your family members.
SuperGreen is green hosting

The Holy Grail For Generating Adsense Income
You may have heard stories of how some webmasters make a living from their Google Adsense income. They insert some HTML code into their web pages that hopefully will display ads relative to their content. When visitors click on the ads, the webmaster earns money for the click. This could be anywhere from single digit cents to several dollars. It all depends upon how competitive and costly the keyword bidding gets for the advertisers.
Making money with Adsense is not a project for a newbie marketer. You need the right tools and you need to be able to follow instructions. But most importantly, you can’t be a quitter because it doesn’t happen over night. I will say this right up front, there will be times where you’ll spend time researching and doing everything right, only to find out that a particular niche isn’t as profitable as you had hoped for. Other times, you may not see any income for months, then suddenly it takes off like a rocket.
Personally, I was making money with Adsense, but it was months between the minimum $100 earnings before I got a check. I knew how to build websites and I knew how to get relative Adsense ads to display on my sites. However, I also knew that I was missing two important pieces to the puzzle.
1) How to find the high paying ads.
2) How to get the traffic to my sites so the ads got clicked.
I bought a lot of Adsense ebooks that explained what to do, but none of them explained how to do it because none of those so-called Adsense gurus were giving up their secrets.
It was frustrating because I already had the skill set to do the job. All I needed was some guidance on the finer details – the magic fairy dust that transforms it into something profitable. What I needed was a step-by-step guide, a blueprint, if you will, showing me exactly how it’s done.
A few months ago I found it by accident. I had never heard of the guy before. He’s very secretive about the sites he creates and with good reason. He’s making a lot of money with them and can’t risk having his Adsense empire destroyed. I paid the one-time fee, downloaded his course and spent the rest of the day studying it. Incidentally, it’s not a product you’ll find on ClickBank.
Having been a computer programmer in a former life, I know what it means to have a well written design document in order to build a solid application. This was such a document. It’s exactly what I was looking for. The holy grail for generating Adsense income.
Finally, get step-by-step instructions to once and for all learn how to make money with Adsense.
Here are the tools you need
1) John Xfactor’s Adsense Masters Course – This is THE course. The glue the puts it all together. The holy grail of EXACTLY how to get those high paying ads to display on your site and then how to get free traffic to your sites.
2) Micro Niche Finder - This is one of the best keyword tools I own when it comes to doing research for Adsense for finding those super high paying keywords with little to no competition. I have it running in the background right now while I’m writing this and I’m looking at a keyword with a Adwords cost of $23.46 where the strength of the competition is practically ZERO! Cha-CHING! Imagine the Adsense payouts from one of those clicks. The software will also tell you if the .com, .net, or .org domains available for your newfound keywords. Having the keywords you’re trying to rank for in your domain name makes it a shorter trip to the top of the SERPS.
3) NameCheap – I buy all my domains from NameCheap for only $8.81. They have a free privacy manager called WhoIs Guard for the 1st year. It renews at only $2.88 yearly. goDaddy can’t touch NameCheap on pricing.
4) SuperGreen Web Hosting- I use WordPress to create my websites. I’ve used web hosts in the past where traditional websites will run ok, but really bogged down when running WordPress. Not SuperGreen. It consistently gives me great performance. iPage Web Hosting is another good one. Both are reliable, cheap and carbon-neutral, powered by renewable clean energy like wind and solar.
5) Artisteer- I make all my own WordPress themes. If you can use a word processor, you can use Artisteer. It’s a design tool for creating unique and attractive themes for WordPress, Blogger (Blogspot), Joomla, DotNetNuke, Drupal, and HTML templates. You don’t have to know any code. I have practically quit building traditional HTML sites. Why do it when WordPress automatcially does the navigation and layout on its own? It’s the fastest way to crank out a site. With a few of my favorite WordPress plugins, I can make sites that look like HTML sites. Only another experienced developer would be able to tell.
Green Web Hosting – Interesting Facts About Data Centers
As more people become aware of the increasing need to adapt to a smaller carbon footprint in the wake of global warming, perhaps you’ve asked yourself, “What can I do to help?” Let’s find out.
More and more people are coming online and using social services like Facebook and Twitter or starting their own websites and blogs. However, free services have their limitations and if they don’t like the content you post, they can pull your online presence.
You can still effectively communicate with friends, family and others around the world and post the content you like when you have your own domain for running a website or blog, but before you jump on board and buy your first or next web hosting account, here is something to consider.
The data centers that are needed to run a web hosting company consume enormous amounts of electricity. In October 2009, US Infrastructure magazine did a study on data centers and compiled some interesting facts.
- Between 2000 and 2005, the energy consumed by large data centers doubled worldwide.
- In 2006, online data centers in the US accounted for 1.5 percent of the entire country’s electricity use.
- 25% of the power needed to operate a data center goes towards air conditioning to keep the servers from over-heating.
The good news is, more data centers are turning to green energy, mainly wind and solar, to power their operations.
A few years ago when eco-friendly web hosting was becoming popular, the pricing structure was at a premium, often more than double that of non-green hosting and with significant limitations on disk space and bandwidth.
In recent months, prices have been drastically reduced and web hosting companies like iPage and SuperGreen can now offer green hosting accounts with unlimited disk space and bandwidth for under $4/month, under pricing most of their competitors.
If you are considering purchasing hosting, take a look at carbon neutral web hosting from iPage or SuperGreen.
I have both an iPage a SuperGreen account and the speed of my websites and blogs are considerably faster than that of other hosts I’ve tried.

SEO Training Tips – Setting Up A Blog Properly
WordPress is one of the top Search Engine Optimisation enhanced blogs that you can select to use. It is a world leader. It is simple and easy to use, looks great and above all is 90% SEO ready out of the package.
This is part of a series of tip articles just about using WordPress for maximizing on Search Engine Optimisation.
Tip: Make sure the blog is on YOUR site
So often we are asked about adding a blog on another website such as Blogger or Wordpress.com which provides free blog hosting and has a high PR rank.
If you are doing blogging for Search Engine Optimisation reasons compared to gaining traffic purposes, then you can ONLY locate your blog in one place and one place only – On your site!
Do not even think about using a sub-web such as http://www.blog.myhappysite.com. Why would you use a sub web anyhow unless if you want a cool blog URL.
Sub webs are part of your web site but they are unclear from an SEO perspective. If you want to have the blog content 100% associated with your website then make sure it is off a sub folder and NOT a sub web for example : http://www.myhappysite.com/blog.
Placing your blog on a sub web will not give you the same SEO advantage as having them as a sub-folder on your website. Sub webs may be treated different by different search engines – the result outcome will be unclear.
If your blog is currently on WordPress.com or Blogger.com then consider speedily to relocate it and it’s contents to your site. Shifting a WordPress.com hosted site to your own WordPress site hosted by you is simple – do a database backup and then set up WordPress on your internet site and then restore the contents. Moving a Blogger site to a WordPress site is not as easy. If you want to study how to do this then just Google – “moving a blogger blog to wordpress” and you will get some great hints on how to do this.
One big thing to watch out for if you move a large blog to your site (with lots of content), that if you are currently ranking for a number of keywords, then your ranking can be seriously affected after you have added your blog content.
We have experienced client ranking drop after adding a lot of new content in the form of a blog to a clients sites. Adding a hit of new content ‘dilutes’ your current site content if the new content is NOT SEO optimized for the keywords that you want to rank for. SEO Optimize the content before making it live to avoid this dilution process. Taking the time to do this BEFORE you add it to your site will make a big difference to your immediate ranking position.
Website Linking – Is It Effective?
3 Way Links Services – Neurolinker, 3waylinks or Automated Link Building?
As of right now there are dozens of three way link building services. All of them work in different ways and their effectiveness is also different, and in accordance with the features they offer. This post will share with you some information about the 3 most popular 3 way link services and what the future holds for them.
One of the most popular services for getting 3 way links is 3waylinks.net. Run by Jonathan Leger, 3waylinks has become the most popular service of its kind to date. The services performs well for what it is designed to do, but up and coming competitors are making 3waylinks.net less of a value added service as time goes on.
Another service that does 3 way linkss and X-way links is Neurolinker. The cost to join Neurolinker is less than 3waylinks.net and Neurolinker also adds in some methods for getting permanent backlinks with their system. Neurolinker’s only fault will be erased with time, and that deficiency is that their network while growing is still not large enough to give the “unlimited” backlinks its sales letter promises.
There’s a service called Automated Link Building that has been doing 3 way links for its members for the last’ months (at the time of this writing). Automated Link Building started off as a free service in order to build up a huge network that would rival its competitors.
When deciding which of these services you might want to join there are 3 things you might want to consider. The most popular 3 way links service is almost the most expensive one with the largest network. Neurolinker offers permanent one way links, plus 3 way links but their network is smaller but always getting larger. Automated Link Building is free, or very low cost service and the network is growing very quickly.
Confused about link building, and which link building services are right for you and your business?. This site here is 100% dedicated to reviewing link building services
Samsung CLP 510 Toner Cartridge

Samsung CLP 510 Color Laser Printer
This is my trusty Samsung CLP-510 duplexing color laser printer. I love this printer. I buy a lot of e-books, but having the .pdf files on my computer doesn’t do me any good so I print them out in duplex mode (printing on both sides of the paper).
Replacement Toner Cartridges
DO NOT buy toner cartridges at an office supply store because you’ll pay twice as much.
Here’s where you can get a replacement Samsung CLP-510 toner cartridge. I buy all of my printer cartridges from them, both inkjet and laser. They’re really cheap there and they run a lot of specials. You can get 10% off with this coupon code FALL2009. Plus, I’ve never had any problems with any of their toner cartridges.

Samsung CLP-510 Toner Cartridge
They have a computer chip in them and each time a page is printed, the counter on the chip increments by one. When it reaches the max count pre-determined by Samsung, the cartridge tells the printer to stop working until the toner is replaced. It sucks because sometimes there’s still toner left, but that’s an industry thing, not just Samsung.
Anyhoo, the point being is, I’ve purchased toner cartridges from other companies and I’ve had to return them because the printer wasn’t recognizing the chip. I never have problems with toner from the company I use (4inkjets).
Resetting An Empty Toner Cartridge
This is straight from a Samsung service tech’s mouth. Follow these instructions when your printer says a cartridge is empty, but you know you can get a little more life out of it while the new one comes in
- Remove the “empty” toner cartridge and put a piece of masking tape over the 3 brass-colored metal contact points on the right side of the cartridge, near the rear.
- Put the cartridge back into the printer.
- Turn the printer off.
- While HOLDING DOWN THE MENU KEY, turn the printer on and keep pushing the key.
- When the display reads “Uncheck Consumable Mode”, release your finger from the Menu key.
- Your printer should now start up normally into Ready mode, rather than display the empty cartridge menu.
A word of caution, because the message is now turned off, keep an eye on print quality.

GBC CombBind C110
Comb Binding Machine
After I print out the ebooks I bind them with a GBC CombBind C110 comb binding machine I got at Staples. It was really worth the investment. I can’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve used that machine. If you want one, don’t buy it in the store without checking the online pricing on the Staples.com site. Print out a copy of the web page and show it to them when you pay for it. They honor their web pricing in the store (unlike Walmart). The machine punches the holes along the edge of the paper and inserts the comb into the holes. I like using these kinds of spines because an opened document lays flat. I take my bound ebooks with me just like other people carry a paperback book. You never know when you can sneak in some quality reading time while waiting for something or someone.
Comb Binding Supplies
I get all of my comb binding spines at clear covers at MyBinding.com. The 100 pack of 5 mil Crystal Clear 8-1/2 x 11 covers is under $10. I keep a supply of 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, and 3/4 inch spines in stock.
